Come dance to Elixir on their farewell tour!
SCHEDULE
There will be two dances on Saturday, May 17, 2025:
2 - 5 pm: challenging contras
8 - 11 pm: regular evening
TICKETS
Unlike our regular dance, tickets are required! Tickets will be on sale:
Starting Saturday, March 15, in person at our contra dance
Starting Sunday, April 20, online (details forthcoming)
We are asking dancers to please buy tickets for only one dance at this time, to allow space for everyone who wants to attend. Depending on ticket sales, we may allow folks to purchase tickets for both dances as we get closer to May 17.
Tickets are non-refundable, except if you are sick. In case of illness or injury, contact us at any time for a full refund of your ticket. Please help us keep everyone healthy by staying home if you are sick!
CHALLENGING AFTERNOON
The afternoon 2 - 5 pm dance will include challenging contras and shorter walkthroughs. Please join us if:
You know how to do a roll away, California twirl, pass through to a wave, and contra corners, as well as the basic moves, without being taught
You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and how to recover from a lapse
You assist your partner and neighbor to the next move
You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others
You have an awareness of your whole set and work to help make the dance functional and fun for everyone
You respond to confusion and missteps by others with grace, encouragement and good humor
(thanks to the Greenfield Experienced Contra series for this excellent definition)
PARKING
Parking will be tight. Please:
Arrive up to 30 minutes early
Carpool!

WHO IS ELIXIR?
Elixir is Ethan Hazzard-Watkins (fiddle), Jesse Readlynn (trumpet / flugelhorn), Anna Patton (clarinet / vocals), and Owen Morrison (guitar / foot percussion), and Nils Fredland (calling / trombone / vocals). Elixir blends driving fiddle and guitar with the rich texture and rhythmic excitement of a full horn section, deftly weaving brassy riffs and daring solos in and out of traditional Irish, French Canadian and New England tunes.
